'Harry's House' Is Harry Styles' Best and Most Fun Album yet Review

harry's house

On his self-titled solo debut and, to a slightly lesser extent, his sophomore release "Fine Line," Styles could sometimes get lost in his tangled array of influences and the frantic rush towards acclaim. It's obvious that Styles wants to prove himself as a serious musician, and he deserves that reputation. The songs aren't stylistically similar, but "Music for a Sushi Restaurant" echoes "Watermelon Sugar" in that I can tell how much fun Styles is having, and his audible grin is absolutely infectious. I'd even venture to say "Sushi" is more delightful than his sophomore album's most beloved track. Harry’s House was announced back in March, and includes the lone single “As It Was.” The track received a colorful, choreographed music video days later. The striking visual—featuring Styles dancing on a rotating disc in a sparkly red jumpsuit—was directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Tanu Muino.

“Late Night Talking”

"You never saw my birthmark." Now, as he reflects on what could have been, he sings, "I'm not worried about where you are / Or who you will go home to / I'm just thinking about you." Through his "day in the life" approach, Harry ended up with a record that he described was "so much more intimate to me and so much more intimately made" than he could've ever foreseen. However, as the album began to find its distinctive, slow-grooving, Laurel Canyon-inspired ‘70s sound, its title slowly took on a deeper, more personal meaning for the "Watermelon Sugar" singer. The announcement for "Harry's House" came with a trailer, which sees Styles enter a theater and walk on stage as a set shaped like a house is lifted up around him.

Has this album been awarded from any award shows?

In a video message, the prince appeared at the Military Times Service Members of the Year Awards, where he presented the prestigious Soldier of the Year title to Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks. Marks, a combat medic, was injured in Iraq in 2010 before eventually returning to active duty and becoming internationally recognized as a para swimmer. But there had been little in the way of official confirmation of Harry’s residency status until this week. The filing indicates the change of residency dates to June 29, 2023, the day that Buckingham Palace confirmed the couple had vacated Frogmore Cottage, their British home.

Daydreaming

When a rock star becomes a lifestyle influencer, he announces it with a Better Homes & Gardens cover. Styles’ appearance in the June issue of that publication—which runs articles about organic fertilizer and Meyer lemons and rarely profiles musicians at all, much less those of Styles’ stature—brushes off the music press and cleverly promotes Harry’s House, his third album. Harry is pictured in Gucci pajamas carrying a breakfast tray; the story’s very existence signals his hard turn into comfort and leisure. On TikTok, Harry’s House single “As It Was” is a go-to soundtrack for supercuts of curated domesticity. The release of the song marked a turning point in Styles' career, enabling him to embrace a more mature sound and gain credibility as a solo artist. His continued exploration of genres is a trait that Styles has carried into his later projects, ultimately establishing his status as a genre-fluid artist.

Released on May 20, Harry's House features 13 new songs that each capture a unique, singular moment within the 28-year-old's life over the past three years since the release of his 2019 album Fine Line. Boy band One Direction he was eager to prove his musical ambition and historical knowledge. Since his solo debut in 2017, Harry Styles has become one of pop's biggest names by pushing the boundaries of the genre. Dig into 10 songs that showcase Styles' musical genius, from smash hits like "As It Was" to beloved deep cuts like "Fine Line." The “Daylight” video arrives just three days before Styles’ final show of his long-running Love On Tour. He’ll close out the nearly two-year trek — which included 15 sold-out nights at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden — in Reggio Emilia, Italy on July 22. Lamar has since won Best Rap Album two more times, taking home the golden gramophone in 2018 for his blockbuster LP DAMN., and in 2023 for his bold fifth album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. The differences — and similarities — between the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals

With such genre-fluid diversity in his discography, there's something for everyone to indulge in. "I've been so, so inspired by every artist in this category," said Styles, who was up against other industry titans like Beyoncé, Adele, Lizzo and Coldplay. "On nights like tonight, it's important for us to remember that there is no such thing as 'best' in music. I don't think any of us sit in the studio, making decisions based on what will get us [an award]."

“Keep Driving”

The Harry Styles pop-up shopping experience opened early Friday at a La Cienega Boulevard location south of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The seven-day event is a sign of exciting times for fans of the British singer-songwriter, some of whom were lined up on the sidewalk late Thursday waiting for the shop to open. Styles revealed that he recorded the track in his friend's living room and that the new song features the voice of his goddaughter, Ruby. On March 28, Styles announced on Twitter that the first song off the album, "As It Was," would release on April 1 at midnight in the UK.

What is Harry's goal with this album?

That's because the star wrote and recorded nearly every song with Tyler Johnson and Thomas Hull (better known as Kid Harpoon), two of his closest collaborators on Harry Styles and Fine Line. Styles' first and second albums, 2017's Harry Styles and 2019's Fine Line, paid homage to Joni Mitchell and David Bowie, both classic artists who inspired the singer. Harry’s House is the long-awaited third album by the British singer and actor Harry Styles.

The third album from Styles hits triple-digit frames on the ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths in America this time around, giving the superstar his latest title to make it to that number. As noted by Wood, the former One Direction heartthrob recently headlined this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where he performed a couple of standout “Harry’s House” tracks, “Late Night Talking” and “Boyfriend,” live for the first time. He also kicked off the “Today” show’s summer concert series Thursday on NBC. In an interview with Howard Stern, Harry described "Daylight" as a "stream of consciousness" song about being infatuated with someone. On April 28, Styles revealed the full tracklist for the album, which includes 13 songs. Ultimately, Harry’s House is a breezy, easy collection of summer songs, best listened to anywhere the sun is shining and the vibes are right.

In August 2020, a source told Us Weekly that, while they could've asked Prince Charles for financial help, Meghan and Harry decided to purchase their new home independently. Per Us Weekly's source, "Harry could’ve asked [Prince] Charles to contribute toward the cost of the house, but he chose not to ... Getting his dad financially involved would result in the royals having control over him. It would mean going backwards." The project moved another 10,162 equivalent units, according to Luminate. It rises from No. 130 to No. 126 this time around, gaining a bit of ground.

He continued, "I feel really happy at the moment. "It's the first time I feel like I'm making music, and putting music out, from a real place of personal freedom, and that is a really liberating place to be creating from. The process has easily been the most joyous of anything that I've experienced so far while making music, and I kind of want to continue that with putting it out." As he explained to Better Homes & Gardens, Styles felt limitations with his first album because of the pressures to be taken seriously post-One Direction. With Fine Line, he said he was concerned with making "really big songs." Now, his inhibitions have lessened — and it's resulted in what he feels is his best work yet.

It was announced on March 23, 2022, via Styles' social media along with the release date and a trailer. By the time we went out touring [for Fine Line, I’d finished this album and I got to play those songs [from Fine Line] with the knowledge of what was next. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 113,000 album-equivalent units, becoming the fastest-selling and best-selling album of 2022 in the country. It also debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 521,500 album-equivalent units, including 330,000 album sales. It debuted at number one in various other countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. This week, Prince Harry gave an honor to a friend who is also one of the Invictus Games’s biggest success stories.

The tweet included three photos of Styles's back from the accompanying music video. At the same time, posters went up in cities around the world that read, "It's not the same as it was." The "You Are Home" account had previously tweeted, "In this world, it's just us, you know it's not the same as it was," which turns out to be a lyric from the song. It seems like it was just yesterday that Harry Styles released his sophomore album, "Fine Line," and here we are with a third album on the way. In fact, it's been nearly two and a half years since "Fine Line" came out, and we've all been through a lot during that time. Styles stayed booked and busy, filming a couple of movies, going on tour, and putting together his forthcoming album. Throughout all of this, he's only managed to increase his popularity, drawing in more fans every day.

If it's diaristic, open-heart-surgery-style music you're looking for, there are other artists who are happy to oblige. But if it's fistfuls of charisma and fruity allusions you're looking for, there's no one doing it like Styles. Instead, he disguised his homesickness as lovesickness, an ingenious solution that allows the song to resonate on several levels. But then Styles asks, "should we just keep driving?" as if there's any other option.

On July 19, the three-time GRAMMY winner  — including Album Of The Year at the 2023 GRAMMYs, for his blockbuster third album, Harry's House — unveiled a full-fledged music video for "Daylight." One of Harry's House's few somber tracks, "Matilda" instantly became another fan favorite in his catalog. As he gently sings over plucked guitar instrumentals, he comforts someone who feels out of place within their family at home ("You don't have to be sorry for leavin' and growin' up," he sings in the chorus). The message foreshadowed Styles' subsequent ventures after the record's release, including a step into acting and the exploration of a new sound in Harry's House.
